Linking Purpose Statement to Work Priorities

Building a Community of Practice

What We Offer

Purpose Mindset Leadership Program has two offerings and then follow-up community of practice journal.

1. Purpose Mindset Leadership Discovery Session: 2 hours

The discovery session helps participants identify their strengths, values, and craft a personal purpose statement. It begins with a talk by Dr. Badshah on Purpose as the ‘why’ and soul of individuals and organizations. Participants then complete a short exercise to discover their strengths and values and create their purpose statement. They break into small groups for 30 minutes to discuss how they will apply these insights to their community and work, concluding with a brief report back.

Deliverables:

  • Introduction to a new concept and fun interactive way to build teams
  • Craft individual purpose statements, strengths, and values
  • Better understanding of whether you are proactive or responsive person
  • Craft small group strengths, values, and purpose statement
  • Insights into how to build small habits to apply purpose to self, family, community, and work and overcome ANTs – automatic negative thoughts.

Purpose Mindset Workshops

2. Purpose Mindset Leadership Intensive Session Full Day or 6 hrs.

This full-day session includes the 2-hour discovery session, followed by crafting a group or organizational purpose statement. These concise statements focus on the “why” the organization exists, going beyond the mission and vision, which address the “what” and “how” of the organization.

Once the organization purpose statement is finalized, we move to developing priorities and strategic goals for the organization.

We start an initial conversation about priorities and alignment of strategic goals. Opportunity to customize experience by focusing on either individual priorities or pre-selected groups that currently exist in the organization.

Deliverables:

Examples of Companywide/Organization purpose statements

Individual or group priorities related to organization’s strategic goals and priorities

3. Building a Community of Practice:

Create an online Purpose Mindset journal and identify community of practice champions to activate the organization’s purpose through specific actions and individual priorities.

Deliverables:

  • Create and Launch a Community of Practice.
  • Create a Purpose Mindset Journal and tracking system to follow up with best practice examples and case studies to highlight the changes in culture at the group or organization level.

Who this is for

The workshop is geared for both individuals and organizations that are looking to use their purpose as a guide for their work. Attendees will walk away armed with fresh ideas and strategies to start using their purpose to create meaningful change in their lives and in the world. We conduct these workshops in person, online or hybrid.

Testimonials

“I can’t recommend Akhtar and the Catalytic Innovators team highly enough. Their proven process and methodology for discovering and developing a Purpose Statement not only brought our stakeholders along in an inclusive and engaging way, but most importantly, it resulted in a bold and unique statement that truly reflects the strengths and values of Icertis. Now, we are taking this Purpose Discovery process to our larger teams to connect Icertis’ Purpose with individuals’ personal purpose. This crucial step elevates what matters most to us all and has the potential to fundamentally shift how we think about the work we do and why we do it.”

“Dr. Akhtar and his team have delivered this exceptional workshop for both my advisory board and my leadership team. In both settings the content generated deep and meaningful dialog about the why not just the what in our work, which is helping is to really focus on doing what matters to serve our students, faculty, staff, and our community. It’s truly changed the way I approach my day, and how my teams are setting agendas and conducting our meetings.”

“Thank you for spending your time with me and my team hosting the Purpose Mindset Workshop. I found it to be very thought provoking and helpful as we chart a purpose driven path both as an organization and for our employees. It also helped to jump start a conversation that we needed to have organizationally and puts us on a good path forward. This provides us with a good foundation to start building our purpose, and I look forward to where we can take this in the months and years ahead.”
